Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Just weighed my weapons on a certified scale. Bushmaster M4 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 30 rnd mag= 9.13lbs. Saiga IZH-108 with quad rail, red dot sight and loaded 12 rnd drum= 13.27lbs. Short barrel and no accessories would be the lightest. Edited March 18, 2012 by Castalia.

I think that peak aesthetic for the AK platform is a Warsaw wood stock, Bakelite pistol grip, and wood forearm. That being said there are obviously exceptions to the rule.
